Amy has been internationally recognised as a leading social entrepreneur; finding innovative, grass-root solutions to lift vulnerable children and their families out of poverty.
Amy was awarded the Young Social Entrepreneur of the year in 2006 and since then has been recognised in numerous other awards including Women in Ethical Business, Social Entrepreneur of the Year, 30 under 30 and has also won many responsible tourism awards from around the world.
She combined her passion for relieving poverty and conservation in the creation of a cutting edge social enterprise with her husband, Neal. This comprised of a Fair Trade resort (Guludo.com) and a charity, NEMA, which is fast becoming an international model on how tourism can be used to relieve poverty and empower communities in a sustainable way. The resort maximises it’s benefits to the local area and stimulates the economy while NEMA uses a holistic, community-lead approach in its health, education, enterprise and environmental projects. They passionately believe tourism holds immense potential to do good in the world and have recently launched Thin Cats Thinking, a consultancy then enables other hotels to develop similar models.
Amy is also a member of the Global Angels International Advisory Board, advising us on sustainability of charity projects around the world. She is also the CEO of the NEMA Foundation whom we work closely with and have helped develop through our support and funding.
