David Vadiveloo is an internationally awarded screen director/producer and nationally recognised human rights lawyer in Australia.
His company Community Prophets is a media entertainment and social justice agency specialising in screen-based, long-term training and empowerment programs for marginalised youth. David co-produced and directed the acclaimed interactive drama series Us Mob (2005 ABC TV and www.usmob.com.au), the first Indigenous children’s series of its type in the world. His direction in films like Burn (www.burn-movie.com.au), Trespass, Beyond Sorry and the new series Voices from the Cape has been celebrated for bringing inspiration through unique voices to viewers around the world.
A member of the advisory board to the Centre for Cultural Partnerships at the Victorian College of the Arts, David was formerly a Native Title Lawyer in Australia and an advisor to the Federal Race Discrimination Commissioner.
In 2005 David was the recipient of the Australian Human Rights Award for Individual Community Achievement. He is the youngest recipient to be Highly Commended for the Human Rights Medal, recognising lifelong commitment to human rights.
