Hazel Thompson is a multi award winning photojournalist based in London. She works freelance for leading International publications and organisations, shooting regular assignments for The New York Times. Her work has been published in International magazines such as Time, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Observer Magazine, Le Vie, HQ Australia and Days Japan. Hazel’s work centres on social and humanitarian issues affecting children and their families. With assignments taking her around the world, she witnesses first hand vulnerable children suffering injustice and poverty.
Hazel has been a key part in a number of campaigns such as ‘Kids Behind Bars’ where she went undercover into the Filipino jails to photograph children illegally imprisoned in inhumane conditions. The campaign and images gained significant coverage on ITV News/CNN and international print media. Most recently she has started to produce news reports for 5 news, where she presents the issues she witness as a photojournalist.
