Education

Access to education is denied to children throughout the world. Statistics surrounding education are heartbreaking.

“130 million children lack access to education

94 percent of children who don’t attend school live in the developing worl

104 million children ages 5 to 12 do not attend school

Child labor is one of the main reasons children drop out of school:  246 million children are child laborers

2/3 of students who drop out of school are girls. Girls are kept at home to help run the household or are married at a young age”. (UNICEF)

Global Angels has recently:

  • Built a secondary school in the Masai Mara, for nearly 400 children who had no chance at all to continue education after primary school.
  • Renovated a disused school building for over 700 students in a rural area of Kenya, ravaged by the LRA Guerillas.
  • Fed over 3,500 children every school day in Thailand, Sierra Leone, Costa Rica, Mozambique, Zambia, Cambodia and South Africa through our school feeding program, giving children nutritious meals providing 60 % of their daily food requirement.
  • Built a school for orphans and street children in a remote area ofSierra Leone.
  • Provided computers, teachers and equipment for teenagers in an orphan home in Kathmandu and a science center in Zambia.
  • Provided Angel Grants for street kids, orphans and child slaves to attend University and tertiary institutions.
  • Provided Angel Grants for kids in extreme poverty in Mozambique to attend Secondary School.

Education is one of the main drivers for ending extreme poverty. Girls who are educated are able to better protect themselves against HIV/AIDS, marry later in life, have healthier children, and can have work opportunities beyond the home. Boys who are educated may be able to break a family cycle of hard labor and typically earn more than their non-educated counterparts.

Our sustainability strategy  for long term transformation of communities means our educational projects are always part of holistic programs working with children in the developing world. In fact, several of our projects are award winning models, transferable into other cultures.

Choose your project and give a scholarship providing further education for the children in our partner projects or provide new school buildings, teachers, equipment or facilities.
