Nycomed & Global Angels Partner To Provide Healthcare In Mozambique!

It is our pleasure to announce a new partnership with global pharmaceutical company Nycomed, to raise funds for disadvantaged communities in Mozambique, helping to deliver primary healthcare to over 16,000 people.

The initiative, launching at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Annual Congress in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 24 September, will be marked by the decision of Nycomed to replace usual branded giveaways with a charitable donation to bring direct healthcare benefits to people in need. Delegates will be able to show their support by pledging tokens at the Nycomed exhibition booth. For every token received, Nycomed will make a contribution to Global Angels and double the final amount raised, as part of their corporate commitment to improve health provision within different communities.

We believe that we can make a real difference to these communities by helping them access much-needed primary health care,” comments Nycomed. “Clinics in rural Northern Mozambique are few and far between. A lack of transportation means that people have to walk huge distances to reach them, and when they do, the existing clinics are often overcrowded and understaffed. These new health posts, supported by funds raised at ERS, will provide a sustainable solution to increasing access to primary healthcare in this community.

Global Angels founder Molly Bedingfield comments, “We are thrilled to be able to partner with Nycomed to raise money for this vital project one the poorest parts of in Mozambique. The money raised at ERS directly fund essential healthcare provision to thousands of people in need. Through our Global Angels 100% promise, every penny we receive from public donations goes directly to our 100% Projects.

All donations made through the Nycomed-Global Angels partnership will be used to support the Nema Project in Northern Mozambique. The objective is to build, furnish and staff community health posts in three villages, providing a live-in nurse who will be able to give basic healthcare to the surrounding villages, helping to dramatically change the lives of over 16,000 people. The health post will also provide a base for community health volunteers to run malaria, nutrition, sanitation and HIV workshops.
