Henley Half

I completed my first half marathon on Sunday in sunny (actually, misty, and later very sunny) Henley. Did pretty well actually. From what I can see my finish time of 1:41 got me #35 female place across the line. My friends and neighbours promised to exit their houses on a Sunday morning but for some reason failed to predict my finish time so turned up as I was walking (limping) home!!!! Funny. I have been resting since and today ran 8k (5m) which felt great. But afterwards I am starving and actually now... I need a nap!!!! What is wrong with me? All I do is run, eat and sleep. And work. Oh well. Good fun.... kinda!!!!!!!

After 2.5 weeks on the road through various timezones, with a pretty mad work schedule, failing to stick to my training plan or get any sleep, I managed to run 16.8 miles today. Was supposed to go out for 3 hours / 30k but as it happens the route is just short of that - and I got lost. Seemed to do it at a fairly decent pace - even the hills - and despite the wind and the rain at the end I ran for 2.5 hours.

Really wasn't looking forward to it - trying to find excuses this morning not to do a big run. Like not stocking up on carbs beforehand. I had a packet of Smarties and half a bar of chocolate last night - after a rather hefty, delicious Chinese lunchtime meal at Kai in Mayfair. Though possibly not the best prep for that distance!! And I left the house without any water of energy drinks. I must learn.

Anyway I survived and despite my fear that I just haven't done enough training, in four weeks time I will be doing 26.2 miles. Just like Paula. Frankly she doesn't stand a chance with me competing.

This is the training plan..... easy eh?
