So great to have Mark, Bob, Katy and Maureen support my challenge... really appreciate your donations to help the kids.
We are preparing for the next Everest Skydive on May and then in October this year. It's going to be exciting with new world records and meeting new people and raising funds for kids.

I have just been in NZ and working on starting Global Angels in New Zealand and having some time off by the sea :) Have just returned and so glad to be back.

Hi there Katlyn and Virgil... thanks so much for supporting the Angel Skydive ... really appreciate your giving today :)
It is wonderful to be able to help all these children.  So far, we have given out funds raised to a children's home in Nepal and helped them with a generator, solar panels and now we are giving the older young people access to computers for their education.  We have also helped build a new home for orphans in Pattaya, Thailand... such wonderful kids.

New World Record - Highest Landing Kala Patthar
Nov. 6, 2009 12:37 AM - 0 comments - [ post comment ]
I am so excited that Wendy and Tom were able to land safely at Kala Patthar, making a new world record. Kala Patthar Plateau is very near Mt Everest and is higher than Everest Base Camp. This was a very dangerous stunt performed in a location that until now, no-one has ever skydived before. Wendy and Tom are wonderful Ambassadors for Global Angels and have definitely earned their wings. Yeah!!!

Exciting news this week... I

I will be joinging the next Everest Skydive Team to create some new world records in the Himalayas.  This time everyone will be Angels as everyone who jumps will be helping us raise funds for kids... and part of the Angel Skydive Team as well.

We will be joined by some World Champions on this jump... Wendy Smith and Omar Alheghan  and maybe some celeb jumpers......

We still  have $600,000 to go to raise funds for orphans and children rescued from slavery in Asia...  what a great opportunity.

Only 6 months to go... have started my training again.

I've done it.. I've Jumped!!!!!

How amazing... On Saturday morning at 8am, I finally jumped out of the plane at 29,500 ft… even though I closed my eyes once my legs where dangling over the edge for the final roll out the door. What a thrill as I dropped at a speed of up to 162mph in the 75 seconds freefall, followed by five minutes under canopy down 17,000ft to a soft landing on the drop zone below. The view of the Himalayas and Mt Everest was spectacular as you can see in the photos on the left of my fundraising page.

My jump was part of a new world record of the first and highest skydives in the Himalayas. That really is me in the red suit with my hunky tandem master wearing shorts :)

Going to bed the night before, I found a courage that surprised me, and I just knew I could trust the amazing team I was flying with. Rudy Isanschmidt, my pilot, Omar Alhegelan, my camera flying, Ralph Mitchell, my tandem master and Ryan Jackson, our team doctor - each of them having jumped thousands of times and some of the most experienced skydivers in the world. On the way up I saw that each of these men, like the rest of the team on the Everest Skydive, were devoted to giving all the jumpers an experience that would forever seal the love of skydiving and adventure.

The temperature was a mild -22 degrees Celsius and 20 knots giving us an amazing experience of being able to jump almost directly above the drop zone with very little free fall drift. The journey up to our final height beside Mt Everest was phenomenal, where I felt I could almost touch the mountains. We were literally at the top of the world and I prayed this jump would empower us all in helping the millions of children that need us so desperately to answer their cry with resources that would give them freedom and hope.

My jump launches the Global Angels Flying Academy where everyone who would like to be adventurous can "earn their wings" by doing sponsored flying or jumping to raise awareness and funds for children's projects. Please use our fundraising pages to set up your own adventure and encourage your friends to earn their wings too.The next Everest SkyDive begins May 1st with High and Wild Check out www.highandwild.com. You can join this adventure as an Angel or earn your wings at any skydive centre around the world.

So far, our Angel SkyDive team have already raised £130,000. Click here to visit my fundraising page and help us reach our $1 million goal for kids in Asia. Over the next weeks I will add video footage and photos of the trip. And watch this space for some new exciting skydive adventures over the next year.

Thank you for your wonderful support that gave me the courage to jump :)

Love, Molly xx
Waiting for the Weather
Oct. 6, 2008 4:13 AM - 1 comments - [ post comment ]

Hi there. We have been on the drop zone for days waiting for the weather to clear so we can begin jumping. Yesterday the first jumpers jumped from 29,500 ft and landed safely. What an amazing sight to see them come down from the sky, so excited at what they had just experienced. The first few days up here were perfect but the plane was held up by the authorities and once it arrived, the cloud came in...

This morning it has cleared and quite a few people have jumped so far. I think we have about 30 clients jumping so it will take several days to get everyone through and I am somewhere near the end.... my confidence is growing and after waiting so long, I am now really excited.A highlight was someone giving another £5,000 to give to children in Asia... really exciting. Looking at the amount we have raised so far in the last 3 weeks, I might have to do another adventure....

Hope to send another blog in the next few days! LoveMolly

In Namche Bazar
Sep. 29, 2008 11:14 AM - 1 comments - [ post comment ]
Hi there Matt and I have trekked for 2 days up to Namche Bazar, just below the highest drop zone. We trekked for two days and between five and six hours each day. The last day was up hill all the way and probably the hardest exercise I have done for 30 years. I really tested whether the 2 months training I have been doing was going to work. Amazingly, although we arrived exhausted, after a massage we were fine the next day and ready for the next trip up to the drop zone... about an hour straight up the mountain.Once we reached the top, we had our first day of training and trying on our head gear and oxygen masks which we need as there is little oxygen at 29,000 ft.High and Wild are an amazing company - they have organised this whole trip and donated Matt and my places in the adventure to help us raise money for kids. After the first briefing, I am already feeling more confident. We have some of the top sky divers in the world and top trainers. They really are amazing. We are trekking the next few days and then go up to the drop zone for more training.I am excited that funds are really starting to come in for the children in our projects. Thanks to everyone for donating and getting behind me.LoveMollyx
Amazing Projects in Nepal
Sep. 25, 2008 4:21 PM - 1 comments - [ post comment ]

Hi there Angels.

Please read on to know more about the needs of children here in Nepal and the wonderful projects we have been visiting and filming.

Street Kids Bank and Cafe in Pokhara, Nepal. While here, I have met with Douglas Maclagan, who is the innovative and dynamic Founder of Child Welfare Scheme, a charity working to empowering some of Nepal's poorest and most disadvantaged children, young people and communities.

The JYOTI Street Project complete with its own "Street Kids Bank" is an example of the forward thinking and model projects he and his team have been developing and partnering with. Street children do find ways to earn or get money, but where can they find a safe place to keep it from older gang members and what do they do for food if they are ill? They have there own "bank" at JYOTI, where 650 of them deposit small amounts like 10p or 30p at a time. Each of the kids are members of the bank. They have members meetings and help decide how the bank is run and can take their cash out when they like. Each child pays a very small amount for a meal, a shower or a bed at the centre and is learning how to manage their money and the reality that nothing comes for free.

15-20,000 Young Girls Trafficked Into the Sex Trade Each Year. Alongside the bank is a street kids cafe run by the kids, a street kids newspaper, a working kids centre where they get support and have a little fun every day, and a safe house for girls rescued from abuse or trafficking situations. There are a very high percentage of child laborers, aged 7-15, in Nepal. It is also believed that 15-20,000 girls are trafficked into the sex trade each year. We talked to Nepalese young women trafficked into the brothels of Mumbai, India, when our team was there in December. How can we help turn this around?

One Child In Every 15 Children Dies Before The Age Of Five In Nepal. The infant mortality rate is decreasing slowly in Nepal, but amongst the hill people living in remote villages in the mountains and in the slums is one child in every 15 children dies before the age of five. The city hospitals are overflowing and these families have little chance of access. Mobile clinics are life saving for the young children and babies and I hope we can fund several more clinics and centers over the next few years through raising sponsorship of our SkyDive.

Yesterday, I visited a home for 20 children testing +ive HIV whose parents had died and were without relatives. Two widows ( also testing +ive) are the home mothers to all the children including their own. What an amazing project and so perfect to reproduce in any culture or country. Let me know if you would like to help support these children.

Further Education For Street Kids and Orphans  The last wonderful project I visited this week, runs a 3 year training course for 120 children coming through the street kids and orphan projects from the surrounding area giving them recognised qualifications as plumbers, electricians, computer and office workers, and care workers. I'm really excited about pulling together Angels who want to help fund these kids for their courses, their equipment to set up business and micro-loans to give them a chance to develop as entrepreneurs. To top it off, I am the first guest in a delightful guest house in a valley in the mountains near Pokhara city. Some of the young people recently qualified from the training program have helped refurbish the guest house and some are the new staff. My fee for staying here for 2 nights will go into a fund towards supporting the young Nepalese staff working in the projects, many having come through the Jyoti Project and training course...

Earn Your Wings Alongside Me :) High and Wild, the company organising the SkyDive generously donated Matt and my places on SkyDive in the hope Global Angels would be able to raise $1 million over the next three years through the SkyDives. Nigel Gifford, OBE, is the the Director of High and Wild and also a member of dynamic International Advisory Board.

Through sponsoring me on my SkyDive page, you are literally sponsoring the children in Nepal and Asia. If you you have given, thank you so much. If you haven't yet, here is your chance to "earn your wings" alongside me as we give 100% of funds raised to the children's projects.

Love, Molly x

Only 3 Days to Go
Sep. 17, 2008 12:38 PM - 0 comments - [ post comment ]
Hi there. I have just got from the US and have 3 days before I leave to go to Nepal. Matt and I will be meeting in Kathmandu.
There is so much to do before we leave.

I have been doing lots of fitness training the last 2 months but while I was in the US I was told a story about a man who broke his ankle and tore all his ligaments in his foot  on a tandem dive by putting his foot down on the ground before the tandem master... After hearing that, my right ankle was so painful the next 3 days I couldn't  do any training. I was really disappointed that I would get psychosomatic pain like that.. but seem to be OK now..

Matt and I have been planning our visit to the street kids and orphan projects in a place called Pokhara. I think this will be one of the highlights of the whole trip. He has just finished filming for a documentary on charity work  in Mexico.

We hope to film some of the children's stories and will be deciding together how we might best support the projects there.

Molly

It's really exciting seeing all the responses,.... and the donations... helps a lot... so encouraging to have real support and makes it worth the risk.  I am really looking forward to being in Nepal and meeting the children we are already supporting and seeing how we can help more children there with the donations raised.

Natasha and Matt just got engaged! Hooray!

That's right, Natasha and Matt are engaged... Its all very exciting. I asked Matt to come to NY  this weekend while I was here, so we could work on the Everest Sky Dive filming together and our first short video links and how amazing, and he asked Natasha to marry him while he was here... and they are engaged... really exciting.

Natasha is so ecstatic and he has been so romantic...

We all love Matt and are excited they are getting married and think they already make a wonderful couple. How cool that I am doing the Himalayan trek and skydive with my daughters fiance... yeah!!!

Matt and I have been having great discussions planning how we can visit and film some of Kathmandus street children and orphans and tell their stories to everyone through film.  What a privilege to work together on this.

In New York
Sep. 4, 2008 3:10 AM - 0 comments - [ post comment ]
Hi there
I have just arrived in New York to see Natasha in an outdoor concert  at Columbus Circle, Manhattan.  Tomorrow we also are the beneficiaries of a Fashion Show and it is my husbands birthday.

I am continuing my fitness training for the Everest Sky Dive while I am here.
It is 4 am UK time and I am just working on finishing these fundraising pages hoping we can go live tomorrow.

I just saw the amazing video on Nataha's site encouraging everyone to sponsor her Mum and help raise £1 million for children in Asia. She is releasing a new song called Angel as well and hoping to use that to encourage everyone to be  an Angel. Exciting stuff.

Her boyfriend arrives on Friday and we are hoping to get some video footage of the preparations for the trip to Everest.

Love
Molly
