Last year (2008) we built or refurbished water wells to provide safe drinking water to 15,000 children and their communities in Guludo, Mozambique. This year we would like to do the same again for another 15,000 people in the nearby villages.
This year, we have given grants to two new water projects in Kenya. The Ndalani project will provide safe drinking water for 1,000 children and 10,000 in the nearby community.
The new secondary school we built last year in the Masai Mara, will have a new water well and water points provided for 6,000 people in the surrounding area.
Safe drinking water dramatically changes the quality of life for these communities.

At present, only 31 percent of the rural population of Cambodia has access to safe water. Villagers depend largely on unprotected wells, ponds or rivers as their main sources of drinking water, while tap water in the cities is undrinkable and polluted.

Water related diseases claim the lives of one child every 8 seconds. Our partners continue to fight this through its water provision programmes in South Africa, Southern Sudan and Mozambique.
