GoLD Project, Hope HIV, South Africa A New Generation of Leaders in Africa
Founder Molly Bedingfield and Global Angels Ambassador Nikola Rachelle visited the work with GoLD in Cape Town in 2005.
Set up by a top business coach to blue chip companies, GoLD is making a huge difference in South African schools and communities in helping to overcome and halt the epidemic of HIV amongst young people.
As part of a three year programme, youth are given training in leadership qualities and the facts about HIV/Aids. The skills and knowledge they develop enable them to become vibrant, living examples to other teenagers and embody the values that will improve South African society.
These courageous youths are often highly respected leaders of dangerous gangs before being sought out by HopeHIV. The GoLD project invites them to become peer educators in their community and get involved a positive way.
HopeHIV believes orphans are not the scourge or burden of HIV/Aids but rather they represent Africa’s future hope.
