"Commercial Rock with Indie sensibilities" (Richard Palk - Sony/BMG) would be the first industry description of the band. Drawing influences from bands like Radiohead, U2 and Jeff Buckley helped to create Q's sound.
Started in late 2005 by Singer/Guitarist J and Pianist Nicola Packett they first gigged on London's circuit as an acoustic act. However it didn't take long for them to realise that the songs would benefit from an electric guitar, bass and drums.
In 2006 Drummer Samuel Hall joined the band to give this threesome a taste of the sound they could achieve. Gigging without a bass player was a challenge both sonically and practically. They proceeded to record their first EP (Angel) at SAE Institute and to continue to gig around London.
Q won the "STUFF MAGAZINE unsigned band" competition in late 2006 with their song "Can you hear them cry" receiving over 45% of the total votes.
In 2007 Mark Murfitt joined the band on bass to complete their line up. The band decided to take matters into their own hands and started their own record label. Cloudburst Records was set up to enable the band to record, produce and market their own material.
2008 started with the recording and release of their second EP STARING AT THE SUN which the band are using to gain airplay and industry interest. They also find themselves with a large and growing worldwide fan-base thanks to music internet sites and allowing their music to be shared and downloaded for free.
Q are currently recording their debut album due for release later this year.
